Our 2010 Board of Directors is as diverse as New Mexico and we proudly represent our home state and culture in the nation's capital. Our mission is to serve New Mexico State Society members by offering a series of events throughout the year that help create a community among those of us who call New Mexico our true home. Kelly-Renae Edwards
President
Kelly-Renae is a Sr. Legislative Assistant for PNM Resources. She moved from Albuquerque to Washington, DC, in 2006, joining PNMR's now two person office focused on educating stakeholders on energy policy.
In 2007, Kelly-Renae joined the NMSS Board and was elected as Vice President in 2008 and President in 2009. Kelly-Renae earned her M.A. in Communication from Johns Hopkins University and a B.A. in Russian and Communication with an emphasis on intercultural studies from the University of New Mexico.
Laura Davidson

Laura Davidson, originally from West Virginia, moved to Rio Rancho, New Mexico, in 2006. Laura attended the University of New Mexico and moved to Washington, D.C. in 2008. Laura Interned for Senator Tom Udall while he was a member of the House of Representatives, and later as a Staff Assistant. She currently works for Senator Tom Udall in his Washington office as a Staff Assistant and Deputy Scheduler.
Michael Mendoza

Michael Mendoza, was born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico and graduated from Las Cruces High in 2001 and NMSU in 2005 with a double major in Accounting and Business Computer Systems. Michael then earned his Masters in Accountancy from the University of Notre Dame in 2006. After graduation, Michael moved to Washington DC where he currently is employed by MorganFranklin consulting as a financial consultant specializing in technology growth companies. Michael is an active Certified Public Accountant in the state of Virginia. Michael misses the cuisine and lack of traffic in New Mexico and enjoys meeting all from the Land of Enchantment.
Jared King

Jared W. King is originally from Naschitti, N.M. Jared serves as government and legislative affairs specialist at the Navajo Nation Washington Office. He most recently served with the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of the American Indian and the Native American Health Center in Oakland, California. King holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the Colorado College.

Adam Alvarez

Adam was born and raised in Las Cruces. As a third generation Aggie, he received a Bachelor of Accountancy from NMSU. In 2006, he worked for Senator Domenici as a summer intern and then worked for the Ways and Means Committee. In 2007, he returned to NM to further his my education at NMSU and graduated with a Masters in Economics in December 2008. His most recent return to DC was in January 2009, where he began working for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) as an energy industrial analyst. He enjoys participating in NMSS events, and thinks it is a great opportunity to
reconnect and network with fellow New Mexicans.

Jessica A. Onsurez is originally from Loving, New Mexico. Jessica received a Bachelor of Science from Eastern New Mexico University specializing in Communications and Fine Art in 2007. Previously she served on the Senate Staff of U.S. Sen. Pete V. Domenici (R-NM) from 2007-2008. Jessica joined the Bipartisan Policy Center in 2009 as an Administrative Assistant and is currently pursuing a masters in Interactive Journalism at American University.

Elizabeth Hill

Born in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Elizabeth Hill moved to Albuquerque in 1989. She graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. After teaching in Phoenix for a few years she was unable to resist the Land of Enchantment and moved home to teach in Albuquerque. After teaching for seven years, Elizabeth decided to become involved in the process. She joined the Obama campaign as a field organizer. After the campaign she moved to Washington to work for Representative Martin Heinrich where she is currently working as a legislative correspondent.

Terri Nikole Baca

Terri Nikole Baca was born and raised in Albuquerque New Mexico and loves being from the beautiful Land of Enchantment. Her father was born and raised in Santa Fe and her mother is a first-generation American whose parents immigrated from Japan and Serbia in the early 1950’s. After receiving a BBA in finance from the University of New Mexico, Terri Nikole served as a Governor’s Fellow for the New Mexico Economic Development Department. She then attended the University of New Mexico School of Law, during which time she worked as a tribal prosecutor for Laguna Pueblo and as a law clerk for both the state Attorney General and Governor Richardson’s General Counsel. After graduating from law school in May of 2008, Terri Nikole joined Congressman Ben Ray Luján’s campaign as Field Director. Terri Nikole currently works as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Luján.
